BLAQUEBERRIES-Founded by Victoria Vennice in June of 2008, Blaqueberry is an entity of SynSha Models, Inc. & an entertainment company based solely on catering to models of deeper and darker complexions. It is a tested and proven fact that the lighter your complexion, the better your chances of being seen more, particularly in the entertainment field. From videos, movies, fashion shows and more, darker models and actors are almost completely ignored. This form of racism has been around for years and years. The popular “White/Black baby doll test”, which was performed almost 60 years ago, was recently retested but showed the same results. White or “lighter” is favored and is “better” opposed to Black or “darker”. The formation of the “Blaqeberries”, is to break the cycle in society and start a revolution that will hopefully educate individuals into the realization that “Black is Beautiful” and to embrace those of different ethnicities and shades; and why wouldn’t they? You know what they say? “The Darker the Blaqueberry, the sweeter the juice”….
How to be a Blaqueberry:
One must possess class, style, grace, beauty and be of a brown to darker complexion.
As a Blaqueberry, we have to be extra great in all that we do because it is harder for us to obtain jobs and call backs. Being early for events, polite, polished, stylish, prepared for anything and ready for everything, are just a few examples of key components of a Blaqueberry. Although we do look for well toned, fit bodies, we are also interested in darker plus size models as well. Being able to walk is preferred but not mandatory. We are also looking for print and commercial along with runway. There is a $15.00/month member fee which allows you access to various castings, discounted photographers information and our monthly B.B. meeting snacks and cost of paper for print out information.
As a blaqueberry, I will uphold all standards set before me. I will honor all obligations accepted by me and will duly inform management of any concerns and or unavoidable cancellations.
